Father Ted Crilly

The main character of the show played by Dermot Morgan. Ted has been cast off to the the remote Craggy Island for an incident refered to only as "that Lourdes thing" where funds intended for a sick child's pilgrimages to Lourdes were mis appropriated and found "resting" in Ted's account. Ted's character has to try to lead his three companions through their adventures while he himself battles with his mis-giving with the Cathoilc church.

Father Dougal McGuire

Father Dougal is Ted's curate on Craggy island. The reason for Dougal's exile to Craggy is also misterious. He was involved in what is refered to as the "Blackrock Incident" which involved a Sealink ferry and a group of nuns. His inability to grasp the simplest of everyday concepts provides much of the humour in the show. Dougal's denseness frequently infuriates and exasperates Ted, as well as get him into trouble.

Father Jack Hackett

Father Jack is the resident alcholic in Ted's parochial house. His presence on Craggy island can be explained by his violent, dangerous and foul-mouthed behaviour. There is also mention of a wedding in Athlone but we are unsure as", "Feck", and "Girls". He has been trained however to extend this to "that would be an ecumenical matter"

Mrs Doyle

Mrs Doyle is the housekeeper of the parochial house on Craggy Island. She spends her time cleaning up after the three priests. She also makes the meals and especially huge abouts of tea which she trys to force on the priests by repeating "Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on,..."
